Lace shorts

Lace and I have a love hate relationship. I love it on others, and HATE it on myself! Hence, why most of my adult life I've been in search of something lace that works for my body type. Tops and dresses just do NOT work on me in lace, so, I thought I'd give something on my lower half a try. These Gold Hawk shorts won me over, and they fit like a glove. I love that they're mid-rise, and the nude color is gorgeous on any skin tone. Above all, they're super comfortable. The possibilities with these are endless. Girly, preppy, edgy, dressy, etc. For the first time wearing them I kept it simple. Black tank, black sandals, and a bun. I encourage you to try a pair ASAP! I'm loving not being afraid to wear shorts;) These are going in my very small(but growing) pile.

Duster at the Terminal

I'm a sucker for a good duster. Short or long. I wear mine all year long, no matter what the season. They're very Art Deco/bohemian/kimono-esque, which in my opinion, is awesome! Nothing else has this much versatility. You can throw it over leggings, shorts, a skirt, or a simple tank dress(like I did here), and have a completely different but amazing look. This black and cream one from Free People that I found on sale at Nordstrom Rack is beautiful! Don't you love the slits in the back? Thats the best part to me. Going to the old terminal and taking pictures was so much fun. I love anything that makes me feel like I stepped into an Ingrid Burgman or Katherine Hepburn film. So, this duster AND this location was a perfect combo. You should definitely try one.

Concert outfit

One of the best things about summer is all the great concerts to go to. When I found out I was going to Beyonce and Jay-Z's On the Run tour I immediately started thinking of what to wear (and also stretching in preparation for some amazing dance moves). It had to be something cute and comfortable. I'm not ashamed to say, when the lights went out and the music started, I pretty much BECAME Beyonce. Only In my head of course, and, only because no one was looking at me:) So, knowing I was going to sweat like crazy, I wore pieces that would help me keep cool. My black "leather" peplum top with cotton in the back, and my distressed boyfriend shorts was the perfect combination. If you know me, than you know that there was a time when I would've NEVER worn shorts. Let alone shorts AND a sleeveless top?! So this was major for me for several reasons. Concerts are meant to be fun and freeing to a certain extent. So I advise, if you have a feature you don't love, let it out. Whether its your arms, legs, hair, or whatever! A concert is a perfect place to test out that sleeveless tank or shorts you've been dying to wear. The lights are always super low, and everyones looking at the artist on stage(so that helps). Give it a shot, and then I'd love to hear from you in the comments below:) Keep dancing!

Wonder Woman

Who doesn't love Wonder Woman? Everything she stands for is amazing, and, her outfit was perfection! (I loved her cuffs the most) I can't tell you how fast I snatched this top off the hanger when I saw it. I la la LOVE it! When you scroll down and see the pics, you will understand why no further explanation is really necessary. Other than, Chaser got it right!(as usual). I wore my high waisted grey skirt and my very comfortable strappy sandals with it. This combination really makes me feel like Wonder Woman. Maybe it's because both pieces are grey (And I love grey, it makes me feel good) or, maybe it's because this is the coolest skirt ever! Or, maybe it's because I have Wonder Woman on my chest! Whatever the reason, it's a darn good outfit. I threw on my black/gold chain link set to feel more wonder-ful(corny I know). I've had it for almost a year, and this outfit was calling for a strong piece to accompany it. The whole combination was fun to wear. I hope you like it as much as I do.

Free People

It should be no surprise that I love me some Free People! Their clothes have that lived in cozy feel, but at the same time bohemian chic(I've always wanted to use "chic" to describe something). I took a look through my closet the other day, and, I have ALOT of Free People in there:) In fact, I probably wear it at least 3 times a week. This top is one of my new faves for the summer. It's super light weight and the little ruffle detail on the back is adorable! Not to mention the black and white color is classic and regal, in my opinion. Here, I paired it with some bright neon shorts to do some running around. Later, I threw on a grey skirt and heels for dinner with friends. Side point: I went to a murder mystery dinner and Al Capone asked me: "what's with the stripes?" Ha! Obviously I felt super cool and special at that moment. Oh, AND I guessed "who done it" (just call me JB Fletcher! Love her) This Free People piece is clearly very versatile and gets noticed. That's why I love it so much!(you know I love a two-fer). I'm already thinking of ways to transition it through the fall. You'll see:)

DV Dolce Vita

I don't know about you but this heat wave is killing me! I'm sweating just sitting here typing! As a rule, I don't like to sweat unless I'm exercising. So you can imagine my face right now. Yes, I am one of those people that complains of the heat ALL summer. Sorry(not sorry). For me, graphic dresses are a MUST during these hot days. (Primarily because I sweat like my father and the print masks the fact that I'm melting). That's why when I saw this DV Dolce Vita crewneck I had to have it! The print is really edgy and cool with nice neutral colors, perfect to throw on with any sandal. This could easily go from day to night as well, just by simply switching out flats to heels. My favorite part of the dress is the soft easy fabric. Making it super duper comfortable! Also, the top is double lined, which makes it more flattering for us larger chested girls(always a plus). You will definitely be seeing me many more times in this dress. Its one of those pieces that you don't have to think about. You just grab it and go. Exactly what I need this summer, cuz I can't think in all this heat!
